The global science company 3M, Saint Paul, Minnesota has named Michael F. Roman chief executive officer, effective July 1, 2018. He succeeds Inge G. Thulin, who has been appointed to the newly created position, executive chairman of the board, also effective July 1, 2018.
Roman has served as chief operating officer and executive vice president since July 2017, with direct responsibility for 3M’s five business groups, along with the company’s international operations. During his 30-year career at 3M, Roman has held several leadership roles, leading the company‘s largest business group. He also served as 3M‘s chief strategist, where he worked closely with Thulin to develop the company’s s strategic roadmap.
Thulin will continue to lead 3M’s Board of Directors while working with Roman on long-term strategic initiatives for the company.
